Hospice Volunteers

Volunteers make a difference! They are the framework and heart of the hospice team. Alpenglow Hospice volunteers willingly reach out to meet the needs of the program and the patients and families we serve. They bring their special talents and gifts to the patients and families and are often referred to as "The patient's new best friend". Volunteer activities include:
  • Visiting patients
  • Reading to patients
  • Taking walks with patients
  • Running errands
  • Doing small chores
  • Listening to concerns
  • Being there for someone
  • Relief for caregiver
  • Bereavement support
  • Assist in the office
  • Special patient/family care projects
Alpenglow Hospice volunteers will complete a 2-step TB test, drug screening and routine background check. Volunteers will also need to submit an application along with a copy of their California driver's license and proof of automobile insurance. All new Hospice Volunteers will receive hospice training/orientation prior to assignment.

Whether you are considering becoming a volunteer or have questions about volunteering please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Anne Janssen at (562) 494-7687.
