What is Hospice:
Hospice is a compassionate healthcare service designed to meet the special needs of terminally ill patients and their loved ones. This comprehensive service is designed to significantly improve the quality of life for patients who are unwilling or unable to seek aggressive treatment for their terminal diagnosis.
How Do We Begin?
A single phone call can start the process. Once we receive a call from the patient's family or other referral sources, we will contact the patient's attending physician to discuss the hospice option and obtain physician orders to begin hospice care services.
Who Pays For Hospice?
Hospice is covered by Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurance, HMOs and other payer sources.
Who is Eligible?
Any person with a confirmed terminal diagnosis and a life expectancy of six (6) months or less (assuming the disease takes its normal course). Anyone concerned with a patient's well being can make a referral. Common referral sources include: the attending physician, a family member, a hospital discharge planner, clergy, a social worker, a friend of the individual.
Alpenglow Hospice is committed to providing compassionate end of life care to our patients, focusing on comfort and dignity. We ensure quality care with an emphasis on the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of our patients and their families.
